Workshop on Dynamic Equations on Time Scales, Difference Equations and Applications in Mathematical Biology

We celebrate our friend and collaborator Martin Bohner, an internationally respected mathematician and Curators’ Distinguished Professor of Mathematics and Statistics at the Missouri University of Science and Technology, widely recognized for his foundational role in the development of dynamic equations on time scales, a theory that elegantly unifies differential and difference equations and has influenced research across mathematics, engineering, economics, and the sciences. Over the course of his career, he has authored more than 350 research papers and seven books, including the fundamental books on time scales calculus. His work has been cited over 22,000 times and reached an h-index of 66 and an i10 index of 271, reflecting an extraordinary breadth of impact and collaboration. His research has been carried out with an extensive international network of collaborators—dozens of coauthors spanning multiple continents—and appears in leading journals. Beyond his research contributions, Martin has given exceptional service to the profession, serving as Editor-in-Chief of journals including Advances in Difference Equations, as associate editor for nearly 100 international journals, and as President of the International Society of Difference Equations. His work and leadership have been recognized through numerous honors, including the 2021 Obada Prize, multiple Faculty Excellence and Research Awards, and nine teaching awards at Missouri S&T, reflecting his deep commitment to both scholarship and education. This conference celebrates Martin’s 60th birthday and honors a career marked not only by outstanding mathematical contributions, but also by joy, friendship, collaboration, and lasting influence within the international mathematical community and beyond.
