Founded on July 24, 1969, the Brazilian Mathematics Society (SBM) main objective is to develop actions that contribute to fostering research and improving teaching in mathematics at all levels, encouraging and promoting exchange between mathematics professionals from Brazil and abroad.
Goals of the Workshop:
Bring the mathematical community closer to the Brazilian Mathematics Society, discussing fundamental themes for the improvement of Brazilian mathematics;
Present to the mathematical community the work that has been developed by the different administrations of the Brazilian Mathematics Society over its 55 years of existence;
Dialogue with the Brazilian mathematical community to understand the main directions and needs to guide actions in the coming years;
Create collaborations and scientific partnerships between participants;
Discuss actions to promote the representation of underrepresented groups in mathematics;
Allow dialogue with other scientific societies in similar areas;
Discuss important topics such as training mathematics teachers in basic education, undergraduate and postgraduate courses in mathematics in Brazil and mathematical research.
