NEWTON POLYHEDRA, WHITNEY EQUISINGULARITY AND
INVARIANTS OF DETERMINANTAL VARIETIES

Using the elementary equivalence and Newton polyhedra, we compute the local
Euler obstruction of isolated determinantal singularities and we present a condition
which guarantees the Whitney equisingularity of a family of isolated determinantal
singularities.
