The Fourth Brazilian Conference on Fuzzy Systems will take place at the Institute of Mathematics, Statistics, and Scientific Computing (IMECC) at the University of Campinas (Unicamp), Campinas - Brazil.
Campinas, founded in 1842, is a city located at São Paulo State, Brazil. Currently, it has a population of around of 1 million people occupying an area of 801km2. Besides of its role in Brazilian economy, Campinas is also known as an important center of production and diffusion of advanced technology knowledge. A propellant fact towards such acknowledgment is the foundation of University of Campinas (Unicamp) in 1966. Although being only 50 years old, Unicamp has already developed a strong tradition in education and research. Responsible for about 15% of the whole scientific production in Brazil, Unicamp is one of the best universities in South America. In particular, many prominent researchers in the Brazilian fuzzy community are, in a way or another, linked to Unicamp. After the foundation of Unicamp, Campinas has attracted other research institutes such as Research and Development Center in Telecommunications (CPqD), Renato Archer's Information Technology Center (CTI), and Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM).
Nowadays, Campinas has a large highway network composed by Rodovia dos Bandeirantes (SP-380), Rodovia Anhanguera (SP-330), Rodovia Dom Pedro I (SP 65), Rodovia Santos Dumont (SP 75), and others. The Viracopos International Airport, located at Campinas and close to the main highways to São Paulo, is one of the most important airports in Brazil.
