Welcome to my homepage!

Welcome. I am Wagner da Rocha, currently a postdoctoral researcher in Applied Mathematics at the Institute of Mathematics, Statistics, and Scientific Computing (IMECC), University of Campinas (UNICAMP), in Campinas, Brazil.

My research is centered on algorithms, optimization, scientific computing, and Distance Geometry, especially in problems related to protein structure determination from Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) data and applications in Structural Biology.

Most of my academic journey has been connected to UNICAMP. I completed my B.Sc. in Applied and Computational Mathematics there, followed by my M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics. Along the way, I also completed teaching degrees in Mathematics and Physics. During my Ph.D., I had the opportunity to spend a research period at the Laboratoire d’Informatique de l’École Polytechnique (LIX), in France, where I later returned for a postdoctoral position.

My work has changed quite a bit over the years. During my undergraduate studies, I worked on population dynamics models based on Ordinary Differential Equations, including a study of tumor growth under treatment effects. During my master’s degree, I collaborated with the Neurophysics Group at the Institute of Physics “Gleb Wataghin” (IFGW), studying brain networks derived from fMRI data through graph-theoretical methods.

Since my Ph.D., my main research area has been Distance Geometry and its applications to protein conformation and molecular structure reconstruction. More recently, I have also been working on large-scale computational experiments and software development for interval distance geometry problems.

After completing my doctorate, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at LIX in collaboration with the Laboratoire de Physique et Chimie Théoriques (LPCT), Université de Lorraine, where I developed research related to interval distance geometry and high-performance scientific computing.

Here you will find a short overview of my academic background, publications, teaching activities, and contact information.

That's all folks!
