Sobre mim (in English below)

Sou professor Associado ao Departamento de Matemática Aplicada do Instituto de Matemática e Estatísitica e Computação Científica da Universidade de Estadual de Campinas desde de setembro de 2012. Antes, entre 2001 e 2012, trabalhei como professor na Universidade de São Paulo.

Minha área principal de atuação é Otimização Contínua, particularmente Programação Convexa. Recentemente, tenho me interessado também por aplicações na área de Reconhecimento de Padrão, como o estudo de Máquinas de Suporte Vetorial.

Sou editor associado das revistas Journal of Industrial and Management Mathematics (Editorial Board), Computational and Applied Mathematics (Editorial board) e Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications (Editorial Board). Também sou um editor técnico da Mathematical Programming Computation e Editor da série de livros Springer Briefs SBMAC.

About me

I am an Associate professor at the Applied Mathematics Department of the Mathematics, Statistics, and Cientific Computational Institute of the University of Campinas (Brazil) since September 2012.

Before this period, I worked as a professor, from 2001 to 2012, at the University of São Paulo.

My research subject is Continuous Optimization, particularly Convex Programming and its extensions. Recently, I am have been studying applications of Optimization to Pattern Recognition, with emphasis on Support Vector Machines.

I am also an Associate Editor of the journals Journal of Industrial and Management Mathematics (Editorial Board), Computational and Applied Mathematics (Editorial board), and Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications (Editorial Board). I am also a technical editor of Mathematical Programming Computation and editor of the book series Springer Briefs SBMAC.

Purpose

This website is designed to present my research and teaching activities, project to students, and a blog with my small comments on different subjects. In the future I may also create pages to direct to open code I created for my research.

This site is a fork of the Bedford lab code that is freely available on GitHub. Thank you very much for such great design. I have adapted the original design for my needs.
