Marcos Eduardo Ribeiro do Valle Mesquita is currently an Associate Professor in Computational Intelligence, Image Processing and Analysis at the Department of Applied Mathematics of the University of Campinas, Brazil.

His research interests include machine learning, hypercomplex-valued neural networks, deep learning, vector-valued image processing, mathematical morphology, lattice computing, and associative memory models.

Graduate Advisement (Orientações na Pós-Graduação)

I am currently accepting new graduate students (both master's and doctoral candidates) who have joined the Applied Mathematics program this year. Interested students will need to participate in an interview to discuss their backgrounds and scientific interests. Doctoral candidates are expected to present a research project that demonstrates their writing abilities and critical thinking skills.

Supervision topics should align with my current research, which focuses on vector-valued neural networks and multivariate mathematical morphology. For more information about my ongoing research projects, please visit the "Research Projects" tab. Additionally, the following papers provide further insight into my current research interests:

  1. Understanding Vector-Valued Neural Networks and Their Relationship with Real and Hypercomplex-Valued Neural Networks.
  2. Universal Approximation Theorem for Vector- and Hypercomplex-Valued Neural Networks.
  3. Dual Quaternion Rotational and Translational Equivariance in 3D Rigid Motion Modelling.
